Aesthetic Skin Treatments from APEX
The human skin is the outer covering of the body and is the largest organ of the integumentary system. The skin has up to seven layers of ectodermal tissue and guards the underlying muscles, bones, ligaments and internal organs.
Because it interfaces with the environment, skin plays an important immunity role in protecting the body against pathogens and excessive water loss.
Below are some of the common skin care treatments we currently offer and we are in the process of introducing more aesthetic treatments and procedures in the weeks to come.

Chemical Peels
Excessive build-up of dead skin cells make the skin thick and dull and result in skin conditions.
Chemical skin peels are an effective way to treat aging skin, sun damage, acne scarring and reduce hyperpigmentation. A chemical peel will:
- Improve the texture of your skin
- Reduce fine lines
- Unclog pores and help clear up acne
- Help your skin produce more collagen
- Increase the cell turnover rate of your skin
- Improve your skin’s ability to hold moisture
- Decrease hyperpigmentation
- Leave your skin smooth
- Make your skin look more even-toned
- Give you a visible glow
- Make your skin look dewy
- Improve minor scarring
While there are a plethora of chemical peels available, each using different fruit acids and chemicals, our certified General Practitioner will determine the most suitable one in consultation with you.

AHA Peel (Alpha Hydroxy Acid)
The AHA PEEL is a superficial peel that gives your skin a great boost especially if the skin has open pores, is dry and dull in texture and if you have to attend a special occasion.
These peels detox and exfoliate your skin leaving it soft and bright.

Salicylic Acid Peel
Salicylic acid is a Beta Hydroxy Acid (BHA) that is effective in treating oily skin, clogged pores, acne, folliculitis barbae and seborrheic dermatitis.
A salicylic acid peel is a superficial peeling agent and works for those with acne, sun-damaged skin, and fine lines. The use of salicylic acid peels can improve the look and the texture of the skin. Great for women and men alike, Salicylic acid peels can be done on the face, neck, back, and shoulders.

TCA Peels
The TCA (Tricholoacetic Acid) peel can function both as superficial peels and deeper peels depending on the level of concentration. A TCA peel is designed to remove the damaged surface layer of your skin and clear the imperfections such as:
- Age spots
- Fine wrinkles
- Rough skin
- Acne scars
- Sun-damaged skin

Lightening (Yellow Peel)
Yellow Peel is a unique Vitamin A peel to treat hyperpigmentation, sun spots, mild dyschromia, and moderate inflammatory acne.
The peel also increases firmness and tightness of the skin and, in consequence, makes wrinkles shallower.

Cosmelan and Dermamelan treatments
Cosmelan and Dermamelan peels are skin lightening procedures, which are used to treat many different types of hyperpigmentation such as melasma, sunspots and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Furthermore, it reduces fine lines and wrinkles. The effect is a smooth, bright and refreshed skin.
The peeling removes superficial as well as deeper skin layers, but in particular, it gets to the root of the problem by blocking the production of the pigment melanin.
Subsequently, undesired hyperpigmentation can be reduced with a formidable effect. While the initial procedure takes place at the clinic under GP supervision, the maintenance treatment can be continued at home.

Mesotherapy
Mesotherapy is a procedure, in which minute doses of special substances like vitamins, minerals, medications, etc. are injected using a derma roller or derma pen into the mesodermal tissue under the skin surface.
Depending on the desired effect and the particular skin quality you can achieve results such as rejuvenation, whitening, lifting to name a few.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this treatment painful?
No it is not although you may experience a mild tingle and redness for a short period of time during and after the procedure. The GP may prescribe a post-treatment care plan to help alleviate these symptoms.
How do I prepare for the Chemical Peel?
We advise to limit sun exposure because sunburnt skins are hard to treat with a chemical peel. Discuss medical history with your treating general practitioner and
- Do not use any type of retinol or retinoic acid topical medication for at least 4 days prior to the treatment
- Inform your doctor about any medications you take.
What are the possible side effects after a superficial peel?
Common side effects are temporary, and include redness, stinging or burning, peeling and slight swelling. More aggressive peels like TCA will leave you red and peeling for about a week but after you are healed you will see fresh and glowing skin.
What is the post-treatment care?
- Use prescribed medications and sunscreen as advised by the treating doctor
- Keep your skin moisturized.
- Maintain a healthy diet and avoid strenuous exercises for few days
- Do not wash your skin until after 12 hours of the treatment
- Use prescribed products for any discomfort
- Avoid direct sun exposure and any sort of excessive heat source like a sauna or hot tub until skin has completely healed.
- Peels are maximum-strength exfoliants, so you don’t need to use a separate exfoliant (like a scrub, brush or exfoliating cleanser) within 3-4 days of your peel.
What is the recovery time expected to be?
The recovery time depends on the type of chemical peel procedure done. While some patients may start experiencing the results immediately after the procedure, some may take a while to fully heal the skin.
What results should I expect?
The Treating doctor and you will decide on the kind of peel you get. A light chemical peel can improve skin texture and tone, as well as decrease the appearance of fine wrinkles. The results will be subtle at first but will increase with repeated treatments.
Superficial peels like glycolic or salicylic acid peels may need a series of treatments to get the best results. These are generally done every one to two weeks initially followed by maintenance treatment.
